How Many Years of Service is Required For EOBI?


To be eligible for an old-age pension from the Employees' Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) in Pakistan, you must have completed at least 15 years of insurable employment. Insurable employment is defined as any employment subject to the EOBI Act, 1976, and for which contributions have been paid.


 

How Many Years of Service is Required For EOBI?

 

If you have not completed 15 years of insurable employment, you may still be eligible for an old-age grant if you have completed at least 2 years of insurable employment and have attained the age of 60 (55 for women).

 

 

In addition to the old-age pension, the EOBI also provides other benefits, such as invalidity pension, survivor's pension, and old-age grant. For more information on the EOBI scheme and its benefits, please visit the EOBI website or contact your local EOBI office.

 

 

How Many Years of service are required for an EOBI Grant?

To be eligible for an old-age grant from the Employees' Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) in Pakistan, you must have completed at least 2 years of insurable employment and have attained the age of 60 (55 for women).

 

You are not eligible for an old-age grant if you are already receiving an old-age pension from the EOBI or another social security institution.

 

To apply for an old-age grant, you must submit the following documents to the EOBI:

 

A completed application form

A copy of your CNIC

A copy of your passport-size photograph

A copy of your bank statement


A certificate from your employer or the EOBI stating the number of years of insurable employment you have completed


Once your application has been processed, the EOBI will send you a notification of their decision. If your application is approved, you will receive a one-time payment equal to the amount of your contributions to the EOBI, plus interest.

 

 

How Much EOBI Grant Amount?

The amount of your EOBI grant will depend on the number of years of insurable employment you have completed and the amount of your contributions to the EOBI. The grant is calculated as follows:

 

EOBI grant amount = (Number of years of insurable employment) x (Average monthly wage)

Your average monthly wage is calculated based on the minimum wages on which contributions were paid in respect of 12 calendar months.

 

For example, if you have completed 10 years of insurable employment and your average monthly wage is Rs. 20,000, then your EOBI grant amount would be Rs. 200,000.

 

 

How Much EOBI Grant for Deceased Family?

The average monthly wage is calculated based on the minimum wages on which contributions were paid in respect of 12 calendar months.

 

The grant is payable to the following legal heirs of the deceased employee:

 

  • Spouse
  • Unmarried children under the age of 18
  • Married daughters
  • Unmarried sisters
  • Disabled parents



To apply for the EOBI grant for a deceased family, the following documents must be submitted:

 

  1. A completed application form
  2. A copy of the death certificate
  3. A copy of the CNIC of the deceased employee
  4. A copy of the CNIC of the applicant

 

 

A certificate from the employer or the EOBI stating the number of years of insurable employment the deceased employee had completed

 

 

Once the application has been processed, the EOBI will send a notification of their decision. If the application is approved, the grant will be paid to the applicant's bank account.
